We have been so busy this month. I thought after June we were going to slow down.
We had an unexpected trip to Idaho the weekend of July 17-20. Dustin's uncle Lamar had finally passed on after battling cancer for 10 years. He was such a sweet man and we absolutely adore his wife Aunt Daleen, that we just had to go and spend the weekend with all the family. We stayed at Lonni and Byron's place in Eagle and all had a blast. Lots of good times, laughing, swimming, and even visiting with my folks who came down from La Grande, Oregon to see us in Boise. That was a great trip. Kapri rode a horse over at Dustin's cousin's place in Middleton. Kapri had a great time and is getting so good at riding. She has been doing lessons now for 2 months. She is such a natural.
July 24-26-After the kids ran the mile run at 7 am and riding in the Mapleton Parade at 9am with our family, our minature horses and buggy, we headed to Ogden/Layton area. We stayed in the Comfort Suites Hotel from Thursday-Saturday in Ogden. We went to the Dinosaur Park up in Ogden and the Train Museum (Tay's favorite stop) and then onto Lagoon on Saturday. We had so much fun there too. We swam at night in the pool and even taught the kids "Marco Polo"... first time playing it for them. We had lots of swim races and the girls are really picking up the swimming strokes fast. We stopped at the Farr Ice Shop for some yummy ice cream. There are so many interesting flavors now. Taygen had the Playdough ice cream, Kapri went with Supreme Chocolate, and Ryann had the Banana Fudge. We did a lot of walking all weekend and my feet are so sore. The kids got to ride in a wagon the whole time at Lagoon.. so no complaining on their end. The kids are getting older now and can go on most of the rides, which is fun for me! Ryann even went on her first roller coaster. She was frightened to death, but said she really enjoyed it afterwards. Taygen really enjoyed the bumper cars. We were surprised how well he could drive the little car. It was over 100 degrees each day and boy, did we feel it! We all loved the water rides the best!
Overall.. I just love simple family trips.. they are the absolute best! (I will put on some pictures when I get a chance to load them).
About Me
- Karen
- I am a mom of three great kids and a wife of a terrific husband. We have just reached our 18th year! I love to spend time with my family, chat with my friends, read a good book, work in my yard, travel to beautiful beaches, and lay out back on my hammock just daydreaming. Just when you have figured out life, there seems to be a surprise waiting for you. But, life would be a drag without those surprises!
What's new
Fall 2012
Sports Sports Sports.. seems like we have moved onto to our new family "topic".. wow, what a season of sports.
We started the fall with soccer for all three kids. This was their first year and they all loved it. I think they are hooked.
After soccer, Ryann moved onto basketball and Kapri tried volleyball for the first time. Both girls did wonderfully and really enjoyed their sport. I think we finally get to rest for a season. Mom and Dad are pooped from all the nights out attending games.
I even coached Kapri's volleyball team this year. A brand new experience for me. I think I would much rather be on the court than watching from the sidelines. I did lose my voice a few times.
Everyone is excited for Christmas. Pete, our elf, returned for another year at the Peterson home. Luckily he is keeping our three kids in line. We are all counting down the days together. Seems like this year has really flown by. We are visiting with the Petersons first and then heading down to St. George to visit with the Bagleys.
We count our blessings everyday for health and happiness!
Summer 2012
Travel Travel Travel. It seems like when we get home and unpacked from one trip. .. we are getting ready to head out for another one. It is definitely the summer of travel. We are having a blast.. seeing some of our beautiful country. Road trips are the best. The kids are ready for school and to see their friends again. I guess I am ready to slow things down a bit.
Winter 2011
Christmas time.. fun time for our family. Our Christmas Elf arrived this year for the first time...a fun family tradition. Kapri is turning 11 in a few days. She is in the 5th grade. Ryann is 10 in the 4th grade and Taygen is 8 1/2 in the 3rd grade. They just keep growing.. time to slow it down kids!! ;o) We are slowly becoming certified with Foster Care. It is a slow process because they seem to be backed up on the home study part. We hope it will be enjoyable for our family and we learn a lot about giving and helping others.
Fall 2010
School started up ...Kapri is in 4th grade, Ryann is in 3rd and Taygen is in 2nd. I stay busy with volunteering in their classrooms and lots of after school homework. They all enjoy their teachers this year and are having fun. We bought a new puppy. She is a cocker/yorkie/pekingese.. and her name is Kia. We all have lots of fun with her.
Summer 2010
We have been getting involved in movies, commercials.. and anything that looks like fun that comes our way. All the kids enjoy the spotlight and making a little spending cash! Their mommy loves it too!
Spring 2010
We have finished the basement remodeling.. wow! That was a big accomplishment! Dustin did awesome and we are all enjoying all the new rooms that are finished! I love being able to enjoy the entire house! I am working part time now as a 2nd grade overload tech/teacher. I love it.. just enough time to keep me happy and not too much to take away from the family.
